Russian missiles hit a Kyiv power plant; two killed
A Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv killed two people, Reuters reported, and Zelensky said the main target was the energy plant CHPP-4 and that no warning came from allies (BBC, CNN, FinancialJuice). Reuters had reported earlier that Russia hit no energy targets in Ukraine for the first time since Trump's announced truce. Snopes asked what proof there was for the ceasefire. Germany's Merz called on Russia to accept an energy ceasefire after talks with Zelensky (Kyiv Post).
The strike shows the energy truce Trump announced is not holding, and plants like this supply Ukraine's heating as well as its power.
Energy markets react to the war, and South African fuel prices follow oil.
Watch whether Moscow acknowledges the truce at all.
