Border official held with 22 passports and cash
The Citizen reported that an official of the Border Management Authority was arrested with 22 Lesotho passports. SABC News reported that the official had 22 stamped passports and cash. Both outlets said the passports had allegedly been moved from Limpopo to Ladybrand, near the Lesotho border, to be stamped unlawfully. DailyDrop has not seen the official’s name or a court date.
Illegally stamped passports can let people cross a border without proper checks, which is why such cases are treated as corruption of the border system.
No change for travellers. Always check that your own documents are stamped by a counter at an official post.
