Iran says Hormuz stays shut until the US meets its demands
Iran said the Strait of Hormuz will stay closed until the United States meets six demands, according to Oilprice and Indian reports. The war began on 28 February after US and Israeli strikes. Brent has been trading near $100 in recent days. About half of India's crude and most of its LPG come from the Persian Gulf, with roughly 2.1 million barrels a day passing through the strait.
Every day the strait stays shut keeps the pressure on India's import bill and rupee.
Petrol and diesel prices are still administered, but LPG and airfares are more exposed.
The six demands are a negotiating list; the sign to watch is any US-Iran talk, which moved the rupee by as much as 60 paise last month.
