Interbank trading slows as average daily deals halve to 14
In the week to 1 October, average daily interbank deals fell to 14 from 27 and average value traded to KSh 9.5 billion from KSh 14.5 billion; banks held excess reserves of about KSh 22.1 billion above the 3.25 percent cash reserve requirement (CBK weekly bulletin).
Thin interbank trading can mean banks have enough cash and are not borrowing from each other.
It suggests no stress in short-term money markets.
