Zimbabwe's Simbarashe Kundizeza denies using AI to write his Caine Prize story
AP, the BBC and the Guardian reported that Zimbabwean author Simbarashe Kundizeza rejects the claim that he used AI to write 'The Blue Fighter', which won the Caine Prize days earlier. The Guardian reported that an article in The Atlantic said software flagged the story as almost entirely AI-generated.
The Caine Prize is the best-known award for African short fiction, and the row puts detection software and trust in literary prizes under scrutiny.
African writers, including Kenyans who enter such prizes, may face questions about how they wrote their work.

Detection tools are not proof. A fair answer needs drafts and the author's account, not a single score.
