Kemboi and Lema win the full marathon titles at the haze-hit KL marathon
Kenya’s Ezekiel Kemboi won the men’s full marathon in 2:21:19, edging defending champion John Nzau Mwangangi, and Ethiopia’s Alemitu Ajema Lema won the women’s in 2:39:29 (Malay Mail, Bernama, The Sun). Bernama said 40,000 runners from 70 countries took part. The Kids Dash was cancelled over haze.
The event is one of Malaysia’s biggest mass-participation races, and haze now affects event planning.
Organisers adjusted the programme for air quality, a precedent for outdoor events this month.
Expect haze rules to keep shaping events through October.
