The Election Commission set the 16th Melaka state election for 14 November, with nomination on 31 October and early voting on 10 November (Malay Mail, NST). The campaign lasts 14 days. 687,697 voters are eligible. There will be 271 polling centres with 1,263 channels, 31 for early voting, at RM28.45 million. The Star’s roundup reported Barisan intends to contest 21 seats.
Melaka is the next state test of the coalition arrangements in the unity government and for the opposition.
