Kenya confirms a second Ebola case, a relative of the first patient
Kenya confirmed a second Ebola case, a family member of the first patient (Reuters, BBC, Premium Times, Channels TV). Premium Times said the 39-year-old developed symptoms while in quarantine as contact tracing continued. BBC said the first case was a man who arrived from DR Congo and died last week. Channels TV said Kenya reports no evidence of wider spread.
Ebola spreads through contact with the body fluids of the sick, and a case that appears inside quarantine can suggest that contact tracing is working.
No Nigerian case appears in these items. Follow the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and the health ministry for any advice.
The signal to watch is whether new cases appear outside the first family and outside quarantine.
