Man, 58, to face two murder charges after two people die in Christchurch's Phillipstown

Police were called to an address on Olliviers Road, Phillipstown, shortly after midnight on Saturday 10 October. Two people died at the scene and two were taken to hospital with serious injuries (1News, NZ Police). A 58-year-old man is due in Christchurch District Court on Monday charged with two counts of murder, one of attempted murder and one of wounding with intent. Police said two people were earlier in custody assisting inquiries, that the incident was isolated, and that they were not seeking anyone else.

Double homicides are rare and prompt community concern and a large police response.
