Houthi strike on Riyadh's airport kills 12 and injures more than 300, Saudi authorities say
A Houthi missile attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on 10 October killed 12 people and injured more than 300, Saudi authorities said (Financial Times, The New York Times, Mirror). On Thursday, Saudi civil aviation authorities said three were killed and more than 30 injured after two airports were targeted (Gulf News, Khaleej Times, AP via ABC News). The Houthis claimed the earlier attack with no evidence. More than 275 flights were cancelled on Thursday and Lufthansa Group suspended Riyadh flights through 16 October.
Attacks on Saudi infrastructure threaten oil supply and aviation.
Oil prices and Gulf travel are affected; New Zealand imports all its refined fuel.
The Houthis say they act against Saudi-backed forces.
Saudi Arabia says the attacks target civilians.
