Houthis fire missiles at the presidential palace complex in Aden; the prime minister is unharmed
The Houthis attacked the presidential palace complex in Aden, Yemen, and the prime minister was unharmed, officials told Reuters; FinancialJuice reported several missiles and witnesses hearing four booms on 15 October. The Houthis said a strike on a “Saudi military operations HQ” in Aden was part of a policy of targeting Saudi sites. The Saudi-led coalition said the Houthis tried to attack dozens of Saudi facilities. Reuters earlier reported that Aramco’s headquarters suffered extensive damage and that an EU-Gulf summit in Saudi Arabia was postponed.
Attacks on Saudi and Yemeni government sites raise the risk to oil supply and air travel in the region.
Shocks like this feed into fuel prices and airfares.
Claims from each side are hard to verify. What to watch: whether talks restart and what happens to flights.
