ICC lets prosecutors keep seven added drug-war incidents in the Duterte case, Philstar reports; trial still set for November 30
Philstar reported on October 10 that the ICC allowed prosecutors to add seven more drug-war incidents to the case against Rodrigo Duterte and rejected the defense's attempt to reframe the charges, striking out one. VERA Files had reported that eight incidents were added to the trial brief on August 31 and that the defense challenged them (VERA Files, GMA News). The ICC confirmed three counts based on 49 incidents in April, and the trial opens November 30.
The number of incidents affects the scope of evidence and the length of the trial.
For families of victims, a wider list of incidents means more cases are examined.
Prosecutors say the added incidents fall within the confirmed charges.
The defense argues they exceed the facts in the charges and add unfair burdens.
Single-source for now. Look for the decision on the ICC website and for any defense appeal before November 30.
