Navi Pillay wins the Nobel peace prize; Trump re-shares an attack on the committee
Navanethem Pillay won the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize (ABC News, nobelprize.org, Wikipedia). The committee credited her with ensuring that war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide are prosecuted. Trump re-shared a post attacking the choice (MeaWW, Madhyamam). Pillay joked she might share the prize with him (The Wrap).
The prize puts international law at the centre of a year of wars.
Pakistan has often raised the Gaza findings in the UN.
Admirers say she embodies accountability.
Critics, including Israel, say her inquiry was biased.
A prize for process, not for deals.
