IMF warns of an AI market correction, war and surging bond yields

Reuters reported that the IMF named an AI market correction, war and debt as risks to the global economy, and cited an AI slowdown and spiking yields as looming market risks. Bloomberg reported the Fund's view that surging bond yields are the top risk to the financial system. Reuters also reported the IMF's finding that the AI boom lifted global trade growth, benefiting China and India. The comments came at the 2026 Annual Meetings.

The IMF is telling governments that cheap borrowing is over just as war lifts energy prices.

Rising global yields raise the cost of new borrowing for emerging economies, Kenya among them. DailyDrop has seen no IMF statement on Kenya in the window.

The three risks feed each other: war lifts oil, oil lifts inflation, inflation lifts yields.
