The Constitutional Court ruled in Case No. 01/PHPU.PRES-XXIV/2026 on Tuesday, October 6: the petition on Gibran’s educational requirement is inadmissible because the petitioner was not a participant in the 2024 presidential election (Pilpres) and has no legal standing (Kompas, Hukumonline, Investortrust, detik, Tempo). In its reasoning, the Court found no convincing evidence of a foreign diploma equivalent to senior high school; the attached document was only a certificate of attendance. The Court could not disqualify Gibran because he was already sworn in on October 20, 2024. Bambang Widjojanto, the petitioner’s lawyer, said the finding could become the basis for further steps including impeachment.
The ruling closes the route for presidential-election disputes but leaves a political question that is now in the hands of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the parties.
No change to government or public services. What changes is the political tension in the DPR.
The Constitutional Court’s ruling is final and binding: the legal route is finished and Gibran remains vice president.
The finding in the reasoning points to a serious problem whose substance was never adjudicated, so the controversy is not over.
Two things must be kept apart: the operative part (inadmissible) and the reasoning (the finding on the evidence). Watch whether the DPR or the parties really open a right of inquiry (hak angket) or a special committee (pansus), or whether the controversy stops at rhetoric.

Constitutional Court declares challenge over Gibran’s education requirement inadmissible, but finds no proof of a high-school-equivalent diploma
The petitioner was found to have no legal standing and Gibran was not disqualified. The petitioner’s lawyer says the finding opens the way to impeachment.
The Constitutional Court (MK) declared the petition in Case No. 01/PHPU.PRES-XXIV/2026 on the educational requirement of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inadmissible, according to Kompas, Hukumonline, Investortrust and detik. The ruling hearing took place on Tuesday, October 6; one report gives a different date, but most sources use October 6. The panel found that the petitioner had no legal standing because the petitioner was not a participant in the 2024 presidential election (Pilpres), since under Constitutional Court Regulation No. 2 of 2024 only candidate pairs may file this kind of dispute.
Although the case failed on procedure, the ruling’s reasoning says the Court found no convincing evidence that Gibran holds a foreign diploma equivalent to senior high school; the document attached is said to be only an attendance statement (certificate of attendance), according to Hukumonline and detik. The Court said it could not annul or disqualify Gibran because he was already sworn in on October 20, 2024. Experts quoted by UMY and Hukumonline cautioned that findings in the reasoning are not the operative part of the ruling, so they do not automatically mean his candidacy was invalid.
The petitioner’s lawyer, Bambang Widjojanto, said the ruling opens the way to further legal and political steps, including impeachment, according to Hukumonline. DailyDrop has not seen a full official response from Gibran or the Palace during this edition’s reporting period.

Money and land returning to the state strengthen revenue at a time when the budget is under pressure from oil and the exchange rate.
Funds entering the state treasury can help fiscal room, but the impact will only show if they are used for real programs.
Recovering state assets from forestry violations is real, measurable progress.
Administrative fines are not criminal punishment, and transparency on how the funds are used and the fate of the landowners remain open questions.
Big numbers need detail: who paid, how the land is managed, and which programs the funds go to. Watch the Finance Ministry’s reports.
