The fintech company MNT-Halan opened the subscription on Wednesday, October 7, for its public offering on the Egyptian Exchange, according to Arab Finance, Arab News, Enterprise and Rio Times. The company is offering 320 million shares at EGP 24.5 a share, according to an exchange disclosure relayed by the reports. That is 20% of its share capital of 1.6 billion shares and about EGP 7.84 billion in total by our calculation. Arab News said the value is about $149 million and that it is the largest offering in Egypt since 2021.
Public subscription runs until October 15 and private subscription until October 13, and reports put the fair value of the share at EGP 25.92. The shares will trade under the symbol HALN.CA, and listing is expected before the end of October according to one report, and after regulatory approvals. Enterprise said Commercial International Bank had pledged to buy shares of up to EGP 2 billion in the offering. Local media reports conflict over the size of early demand, and there is no official figure.
The offering matters because it tests investor appetite after a run of falling sessions, and because it is one of the few live ones in the region, according to Enterprise, which called it the only live offering while Gulf offering pipelines are frozen. In DailyDrop’s reading, the actual size of the subscription will be known after October 15. This is not a recommendation to subscribe, and readers should read the subscription prospectus.
