Russian guided-bomb attack kills at least 20 in Zaporizhzhia; Zelensky links it to the diesel deal and Trump calls for “a new president” for Ukraine

The strike hit a five-storey residential building a day after Trump announced that Russia will sell diesel to the US market. Ukraine responded by hitting a Russian oil terminal.

A Russian attack with five guided aerial bombs on residential areas of Zaporizhzhia, in southern Ukraine, left at least 20 dead, including three children, and 18 injured on Saturday, October 10, according to regional authorities cited by Infobae and EFE. The main building had five storeys. The toll rose during the day, from four to twelve, fifteen, seventeen and twenty, and is not final. President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram and on X that Russia answered with bombs the easing of sanctions on diesel, a deal he called “unfair” and “unbecoming of an ally”. The EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, also criticized it.

Overnight, Ukraine attacked the Yug Rusi oil terminal, in Russia’s Rostov region, according to Infobae and Ámbito; an independent channel spoke of a fire and Russian authorities said they had shot down more than a hundred drones. Trump criticized Zelensky over the attacks on Russian refineries and said Ukraine needs “a new president”. The British prime minister expressed his “full solidarity” with Zelensky. DailyDrop could not verify the final casualty count or exactly who caused the damage at the terminal.

US disables a Panamanian ship that tried to breach the naval blockade of Iran in the Gulf of Oman; the Revolutionary Guards say they attacked another in Hormuz

US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that a military aircraft hit the stern of the Panamanian-flagged vessel M/T Ocean Molica, also called Arika Sun, which had left an Iranian port, with precision munitions, according to Infobae. The strike disabled its propulsion and there were no casualties. CENTCOM said the ship ignored repeated warnings and tried to evade the naval blockade that Washington resumed in July.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they attacked the liquefied gas carrier NV Sunshine in Hormuz for sailing along an “illegal” route, causing a fire, according to EFE. The sources do not link the two incidents. DailyDrop found no official Iranian reaction to the US strike and no response from Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to the peace proposal.

October long weekend: the City expects 80% hotel occupancy and more than 120,000 visitors, while the coast started cold and rainy

The Día de la Raza holiday falls on Monday, October 12 and makes a three-day long weekend, from Saturday the 10th to Monday the 12th, according to Ámbito and Perfil. Final data will be known after Monday.
